Torse & Mantle - FINISHED

with 49 minutes to spare!!

Dante is supposed to be over here about 4pm and I will fit it to his helm and pray it fits!!

I think it will and if I may say I think it looks cool!!

Question: Who does applique on ANYTHING without an iron?
Answer NOBODY

I discovered my iron has died which meant that I needed to free hand this bad boy.  Thank god the two fabrics had a bit of grip on each other.

I will post a pic of it on his helm once its fitted and laced on.

On item off the list!! What's next???

*Looks around at the fabric bomb that has gone off*....clean up is next!!

Finding focus

I truly find it amazing that when I limit my field of vision I actually manage to get something done.  I mean take for example Dante's torse and mantle, now he asked me to do it over a year ago and I put it off and put it off for one reason or another but in a 5 hour period last Saturday managed to get the lions share of it done.

I find that, for me, when I stop thinking about the complete picture of things I need/want to do and just take small bites I can actually get something done.

So with that in mind I think I am going to choose my next project and put away everything else.  Put away all the fabric or the paints or whatever ISN'T a part of my current undertaking to keep my focus on one thing at a time.  I have to learn the my time isn't like work time.  I don't have to keep my hands on all the balls in the air.  I don't need to constantly have 27 different project running at all times.  Now I know there will time when I will have "crunch times", the week before an event where I need two gowns, garb for Steve, finish documentation blah blah blah but day to day that just isn't the case.  So I need to just breath....breath and remember that I do these things because I enjoy them, not because I am expected to do them, am being paid to do them or have to do them.  This is my time.

Side note: I began the work on super secret project. (this one is all for me)

January 24th _1st day of my Project Push

I have decided...and anyone who knows me knows when my heels get sunk in and I "decide" no argument in the world will change my mind!!

So...last night I pulled out the "stuff" for Project #1. Dante's Torse and Mantle. And tomorrow I will rough out the pattern and get to work on that bad boy!!

He has called a Deed of Arms in honor of the birth of his daughter Logan (cutest lil bundle evah!!) so he needs to look all that and a bag of chips. And if I have anything to say about it he will.

I will take a picture when its done and post it here.

First Post

When an artists loses their drive they stop creating and slowly but surely a dark cloud decends on them. An artists must create and learn and grow.

Right now I am aching to begin anew. Find my passion for the arts again.

I have a dozen projects i would "like" to begin or complete but I know in my heart that i must find some focus and work on one thing at a time.

So first on the board must be the household tapestry. This massive painted tapestry was started months ago, before the cloud came and I simply MUST finish it. Mark and ALianor will be stepping down soon and we all want to put a good household showing out there and this tapestry will be one very large step toward being as spiff as we envision the house should be.

Side note I am going to work on these projects in an orderly fashion. Paint (something painting related) then sew something, then documentation for the next painted project then Painting, then sewing....and so on down the road!!

Wish me luck!!
